If you’re thinking about getting your first tattoo ever, you’re
probably thinking if it hurts or not. Bottom line, yes it does hurt. But
there is a lot of factors that come into play depending on how much
pain is involved. If you asked your friends or people with tattoos how
much it hurts, they will probably tell you it doesn’t hurt much at all.
Few reasons might be because it’s been so long since they got a tattoo,
they got a tattoo in a spot where it doesn’t hurt that much, or they get
so many tattoos so often they don’t even feel the pain anymore. Same
with tattoo artists, they are tattooing others so much they forget what
getting a tattoo feels like anymore.
The pain will vary by person and how much each person can tolerate
it. Also depends on what type of equipment the tattoo artists uses. If
they use equipment with fewer needles, then obviously you will feel less
pain. Tattoos in areas with softer skin will have more pain then
others. Tattoo artists and surveys will show that women tolerate the
pain more then men for some reason.
If you have a fear of needles, then maybe tattoos aren’t the best
choice for you. The tattoo artist can take anywhere from 30 minutes to a
few hours to get your tattoo done depending how big. Having a fear of
blood is also not a good idea to get a tattoo since there will be blood
shown quite a bit.
Where is the best place to get a tattoo? The best
spot is probably a place on your body that has the most strength and
structure. Bony spots on your body is a good spot to start. Your back,
shoulder, and legs are all good spots to feel less pain. The softer the
spot on your body, the more pain you will feel. Obviously spots like
your stomach, inner thighs, inner arms, and hip areas are going to cause
more pain because it’s very soft.
If this is your first time getting a tattoo, we suggest getting a tattoo
that is some what small and in a spot that doesn’t hurt as much as any
other spots. It will still hurt, but if you get a tattoo in a spot that
might hurt less it will help for the future when you get more tattoos.
Now that you already got a tattoo and felt the pain, now you can move on
to other spots of your body because you can tolerate it now.
